The Barn Owl Inn is a charming and historic Devonshire Inn, situated on the edge of the popular village Kingskerswell, just a stone’s throw away from the busy A380/M5. We are not rural, with a new development springing to life next door to us and on the edge of a growing town there is always plenty to see and do!
The pub is packed with quirky, rustic charm. The stone floors, wooden beams, engaging pictures and characterful artefacts depict the history of this 300-year-old former farmhouse.
Taste our seasonal menu showcasing traditional pub dishes, using locally sourced ingredients where possible. Our drinks list includes a selection of characterful Dorset ales, national lagers and ciders, an extensive gin collection, and hand selected wine list. Relax and dine in one of our cosy dining areas or simply enjoy a drink in our soft seating area. We also have a secluded garden at the rear of the pub.
Stay in one of our seven recently refurbished en-suite bedrooms with comfortable beds, crisp white linen and soft furnishings. Coffee and tea making facilities are refreshed daily. We welcome dogs in all areas of The Barn Owl Inn including in some of our Guest Bedrooms.
Explore the abundance of local attraction and beautiful country views, such as nearby the spectacular Dartmoor National Park. Or, head to the English Riviera towns of Torquay, Brixham and Paignton.

Join us to experience our carefully curated drinks menu and sample the Hall & Woodhouse famous Badger Beer
It was deep in Dorset’s rolling hills and patchwork fields, in 1777, that local farmer Charles Hall brewed our first beer. A union of the Hall & Woodhouse families soon followed and the story of Badger Beer had begun.
To create the distinctive character of our delicious Badger Beers, Hall & Woodhouse combine hops and malted barley with pure spring water which has been filtered naturally through the Cretaceous chalk downs of Dorset. Our comprehensive range of cask beers, all with distinctive characters, is available throughout the year, although our offering does vary seasonally.

Book a RoomWe were staying in the Exeter area and booked here for an overnight stay. If in the area would highly recommend staying here. Its only 25 mins into Exeter. My first marker for an excellent place is the welcome. The staff were welcoming got us checked in and took us up to our room, been a while since had that experience. Stayed in Stag room which was lovely and bright. Obviously place has had money invested in it. Room was spacious and had everything you would need including a fan. There were other guests staying but did not hear a thing. Breakfast in the morning was served downstairs and above my expectations. Selection of cereals and fruit, juices and then selection of hot foods to order (cooked on demand so very fresh). Cannot recommend The Barn Owl enough, and will be back when in the area. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Profile/alanrM9879TD on TripAdvisorWe visited here for Sunday lunch and can only say it was fantastic. The staff and locals were really friendly and helpful and the roast was excellent. On the day we were there, there was beef, lamb or turkey and good selection of veg was provided. The only little quibble (and it's tiny) is that the roast potatoes were not as crispy as we would have liked but that's more personal taste than expectation. Overall 5/5 for food and staff. We will be back when in the area for sure! Date of visit: July 2023

https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Profile/willwB4056EP on TripAdvisorFrom the moment we stepped inside this delightful pub, we were impressed. Beautiful old building with all the quirky trappings one would expect from an old inn. We were warmly welcomed by the staff who were polite and efficient. The Penang Curry and the Beyond Burger were served in good time and beautifully presented. Great ambience, superb surroundings and excellent food! BUT what really made it a fabulous experience was the professionalism and attitude of the staff. 10 out of 10 for each one of them! Whoever oversees the fabulous staff and this excellent eatery REALLY knows what they're doing and has got it absolutely right. Date of visit: July 2023
